Amidst the pandemic to flatten the curve, social distancing is one of the effective measures followed by the people. Every section of the citizens has paid their bit to overcome the pandemic. As the number of corona cases is rising, a large number of audiences have stayed at home. But it is not the only choice for various industries who have opted to work every day and make sure that the individuals' necessities are met.
Landing AI, a start-up stated by Andrew Ng has created an AI tool that will help the folks to maintain the social distance anywhere. The monitoring system is designed in such a fashion that suddenly raises an alert when people around are not keeping the intended distance from each other.
In the demonstration video, you can see how the tool works. On the left, people are walking on the street. On the right, you see the Bird's-Eye view where people staying apart at a distance turns green and when they come closer the eye turns red.
Another AI-enabled system name "Distance Assistant" is designed by Amazon to establish social distancing among the employees. The tool has sensors installed that measure the exact distance between the employees. When they pass nearby the camera, they can see their live displays on the monitor. If they have maintained 2 meters distance, they are marked in green, if not then in red. They have applied AI & ML to the camera footage so that areas with maximum traffic are tracked and immediate measures can be taken to avoid gathering.
This is open-source software so that organizations can create their own "Distance Assistant" tool. It is an excellent effort by Amazon for its employees to maintain social distance without hampering their work.
This AI-enabled Machine Learning tool can be installed across organizations, industries, supermarkets, airports, hospitals, or any working place to monitor and remind people to stay at a distance from each other.
